The Multisectoral Regulatory Authority of Djibouti (ARMD) is organizing a training workshop for its staff and that of its telecommunications sector partners from April 22 to 24, 2024, at the Sheraton Djibouti Hotel.
This workshop, under the theme of economic regulation, aims to provide participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to promote an effective and fair regulatory environment in the telecommunications sector, which is a vital sector for the Djiboutian economy.
Economic regulation aims to frame market operations to guarantee healthy competition and protect consumer interests. It ensures equitable access to essential services, encourages investment and innovation, while preventing abuses of dominant positions. In the telecommunications sector, it helps improve service quality and strengthen digital inclusion. Thus, economic regulation fosters the harmonious and sustainable development of the sector. It constitutes a strategic lever for the country's economic growth and attractiveness.
Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the fundamental principles of economic regulation, explore international best practices, and discuss specific challenges encountered in the local context.
The workshop will be led by the international consulting firm MARPIJ under the auspices of the Minister of Communication, in charge of Posts and Telecommunications, Mr. Radwan Abdillahi Bahdon, and also the Director General of ARMD, Mr. Abdi Ilmi Achkir.
