On Thursday, December 7, 2023, the premises of ARMD hosted a delegation from the African Development Bank (AfDB) composed of Mr. Callixte Kambanda - Chief Division Officer, Energy Policy, Regulation and Statistics Division, PESR.1, and Ms. Francine Mbock - Senior Energy Specialist (Regulation & Policies) for a mission lasting from December 5, 2023, to December 7, 2023.
The objective of this mission was to provide ARMD with technical support as part of its operationalization. The first step involved identifying ARMD's needs during this operationalization phase.
Following a meeting with the Director General of ARMD, Mr. Abdi Ilmi Achkir, and ARMD's management staff, an agreement was signed to formalize the results of this needs assessment mission. In a second phase, the AfDB will examine what form of support it can provide to ARMD to address the identified needs.
The AfDB delegation also met with the public service operator Électricité De Djibouti (EDD), the Ministry of Energy in charge of Natural Resources (MERN), and a delegation from the World Bank (WB).
